Gastrointestinal diseases, or GI diseases, are disorders that affect the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which spans from the mouth to the anus. These conditions can range from common issues like constipation and diarrhea to more serious diseases such as colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). In this article, we will explore the types, causes, symptoms, and treatment options for various gastrointestinal diseases, along with strategies for prevention. Types of Gastrointestinal Diseases Gastrointestinal diseases are generally categorized into two main types: functional and structural . Functional GI diseases involve a GI tract that appears normal but doesn't function properly. This is often related to the motility (movement) of the intestines and other parts of the GI system. Examples include constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and nausea. Structural GI diseases  are those where visible abnormalities, such as blockages or malformations, affect the functionin
